Solo travel and loneliness

This was my response:

I very rarely feel lonely, but embarking on a trip that I thought may be as long as a year, I wondered if I would feel differently. So I tucked half a dozen photos in my bag. Ultimately, in 7 months, I never did feel lonely, but at one low moment, it was nice to have these and a couple other touchstones with me.
